PRINCIPAL MECHANICAL ENGINEER POSITION OVERVIEW:
Join our client’s team as a Principal Mechanical Engineer driving revolutionary advancements in medical device innovation. In this pivotal role, you will lead the design and development of cutting-edge medical technology, ensuring alignment with end user needs and maintaining a steadfast focus on meeting aggressive project deadlines. Your expertise in compiling and analyzing operational data will establish precise technical specifications, driving the creation of new products and the enhancement of existing ones. Collaborate extensively with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to deliver unparalleled results in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
PRINCIPAL MECHANICAL ENGINEER KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Innovative Product Development:Generate unique solutions that cater to market needs, leading to the evolution of new products or processes.
- Complex Engineering Work:Execute intricate engineering tasks across technology development, product design, material/product testing, specification preparation, and more.
- Sophisticated Problem-Solving:Utilize advanced techniques to solve complex problems, providing sound design recommendations and drawing actionable conclusions from comprehensive test data.
- Technical Reporting:Prepare detailed reports communicating technical findings effectively within the technical community.
- Project Coordination:Design and coordinate complex engineering tests and experiments, managing and documenting project progress while recommending necessary revisions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:Collaborate across various departments including process development, quality, manufacturing, regulatory, clinical, and marketing teams to ensure project success.
- End User Interface:Engage directly with Physicians and Medical personnel to gather feedback on device concepts and performance.
- Product Requirement Translation:Translate customer needs into precise product requirements and design specifications, ensuring comprehensive engineering documentation.
- Experience-Driven Outputs:Progressive experience with high-volume disposable, reusable, and capital product types emphasizing reliability, low cost, and high quality.
- Feasibility Assessment:Assess the feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering evaluation tests, products, or equipment.
- Mentorship & Direction:May train and/or provide work direction to technicians and entry-level engineers.
PRINCIPAL MECHANICAL ENGINEER QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Essential:
- Bachelor's degree in Electromechanical, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks (certification preferred).
- Over 10 years of product development experience in the medical device industry.
- Strong understanding of design and product development processes.
Must-Have:
- Demonstrated integrity, leadership, creativity, adaptability, and exceptional communication across all organizational levels.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
Nice to Have:
- Progressive leadership roles in engineering.
- Expertise in packaging design, sterilization, biocompatibility, and electromechanical design.
- Experience working within cross-functional teams.
Highly Desirable:
- Established contacts within the Urology or related medical field.
- Strong medical/scientific experience in Urology or Cancer-related fields.
- Proven track record of successfully launching medical devices from concept to product launch.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Light work, with exertion up to 20 lbs.
- Significant work pace & pressure due to project deadlines.
- Expected to stand or sit for 8 hours per day.
