About the Position

The Strategic Account Manager role leads cross-functional development teams to complete all tasks necessary to effectively plan, execute, control, and complete projects, while being the primary commercial contact to internal and external customers for dedicated accounts. This role requires strong communication, with the ability to understand and interpret requests, foresee and influence commercial and operational outcomes to find solutions for customer challenges to fully support innovation, collaboration, and positive end-user outcomes.


The Strategic Account Manager will serve as the internal voice of the customer, ensure a seamless customer experience, and oversee the proper management and follow-through of critical and everyday customer-related tasks. As an essential part of the commercial team facing our strategic partners within the medical device industry, you will bring value to VitalPath by building strong internal and external networks, prioritizing activities, managing risk, and communicating appropriately with stakeholders.

Work Location/Schedule

•   This position offers a hybrid work schedule with the ability to work from home, however the employee must be able to travel to any customer site and VitalPath MN location throughout the work week.

•   VitalPath does not offer relocation assistance for this position.


Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include creating and presenting conceptual product design and proposals, quick turn quote facilitation, defining new custom product requirements, and managing customer expectations from initiation to product delivery.

•  Conduct customer conversations and develop products based on application and feedback received.

•  Provide critical evaluation of costs, concept performance vs customer need and competitive benchmarking.

•  Be a trusted engineering consultant in customer-facing situations.

•  Partner with R&D to produce a steady stream of technical improvements, which enable and recognize continuous product leadership.

•  Partner in collaborative setting on strategic vision(s) of focus areas, driving competitive advantage and execution.

•  Communicate status updates to senior management within the context of a structured process.

•  Research and identify market trends and needs to be used to improve VitalPath’s Pipeline of future revenue.

•  Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

•  Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent amount of experience

•  7+ years of experience in new product development or manufacturing engineering

•  Engineering, process development, or manufacturing experience in a cleanroom environment

•  Experience in writing and executing product proposals in a regulatory industry

•  Proven experience in a customer-facing role, with the ability to collaborate directly with customers to understand their medical device design needs and translate them into detailed project proposals.

•  Familiarity with FDA, ISO 13485 regulatory and validation needs in a Tier 1 complex catheter CDMO environment

•  Ability to travel 10% of the time


Preferred Qualifications

•  5+ years of experience working in product development in a regulated industry

•  Plastics/polymer molding, bonding and assembly experience

•  Background working with filtration products or single use plastics

•  Experience with medical device or bioprocessing systems components a strong plus

•  Understanding of regulatory requirements in medical device and emerging life science applications

•  Ability to effectively operate within a team composed of and lead from differing locations


Compensation Package

•   The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $125,000 . The posted salary range complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as market conditions, level of experience and training, education, certifications, as well as internal and external equity. 

•   This position is eligible to earn an annual performance bonus based on meeting VitalPath’s bonus performance plan.
